For Issue 4 of Frontier Magazine, produced by Blaze Media, I created two editorial collage illustrations to accompany a feature on The Grateful Dead.

The article centred on the band's 60th anniversary concert while reflecting on their rise to prominence throughout the 1960s and '70s in the heart of San Francisco's hippie movement. At its core was the contrast between the free-spirited, bohemian Americana that defined the band and their music in their early years, and the heavily commercialised, merchandise-driven anniversary show that felt more like a money-making exercise than a genuine celebration.

It became a story of opposing ideas: old versus new, freedom versus consumerism, human-made versus modern tech. Each illustration leans into one side of that contrast while remaining visually connected as a cohesive editorial pair.

It was a real pleasure to create editorial collage work around such an iconic cultural moment, and I'd love to explore more projects in a similar vein.

Stickers of a USA American flag, 'Acid to AI' robot and an illustrated skull with its mouth open filled with a stack of money. Depicting mass consumerism in these changing times.
